Ama Dablam Expedition

Duration: 32 Days

The Ama Dablam Expedition is one of the most famous in the world. Because of the unique shape of its majestic peak and the high level of difficulty in summiting it, Ama Dablam (6,812 meters / 22,349 feet) is one of the most sought-after expeditions. Obviously, it is not as high as the 8000+ meter peaks, but it is just as challenging because of the technical mountaineering skills needed. Ama Dablam was first climbed in 1961 by a group of climbers from the United States, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Nepal.

If you are an experienced mountaineer with a strong level of determination, join our Ama Dablam Expedition and have the time of your life. The journey lies in the renowned Solukhumbu (Everest) region of Nepal, where trekkers and climbers enjoy a diversity of flora and fauna, as well as the hospitality of the kindhearted Sherpa people. The trail is packed with snow-capped mountains, massive glaciers, wide valleys, and charming villages.

The Ama Dablam Expedition begins with a lovely trek through the foothills for a few days, after an exhilerating flight to Tenzing-Hillary Airport (said to be the most dangerous airport in the world!).  We stay two nights in Namche Bazaar to acclimatize and hangout. Here, trekkers and mountaineers swap stories and give tips to each other. The ascent continues to Tengboche, home to the highly revered Tengboche Monastery.

From Tengboche, awe-inspiring mountain views are a constant. Trek through the desolate, mesmorizing landscape up to Ama Dablam Base Camp (4,600 meters / 15,092 feet). From here, we make several more ascents so our bodies are prepared for the final summit ascent. Upper Base Camp is around 5,400 meters / 17,717 feet. Camp I is around 5,700 meters / 18,700 feet. Camp II is about 5,900 meters / 17,357 feet. Advanced Camp, from where we head to the summit, is at 6,300 meters / 20,669 feet.

Finally, we reach the summit at 6,812 meters / 22,349 feet. The weeks of preparation and hard work are paid off in this moment. Your breath will be taken away (if it has not already been) as the sheer beauty of the rugged Himalayas. The feeling of summiting a Himalayan peak cannot be put into words, you must experience it for yourself! From here, we trek back down to Lukla and celebrate a successful Ama Dablam Expedition.

Roar Himalaya Adventure arranges all the logistics (documentation, permit, transportation, etc.) for the expedition. The route taken depends on the time of the year that you wish to travel (autumn or spring). Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Also, safety is our number one priority. We do our best to keep you safe and comfortable, with plenty of time to acclimatize built into our itinerary.
