Pumori Expedition

Duration: 37 Days

Towering above and beyond the famous Kala Patthar viewpoint lies the pyramid-shaped peak of Pumori (7,161 meters/23,494 feet). The majestic mountaintop lies a mere 8 kilometers (5 miles) west of Mount Everest, straddling Nepal’s border with Tibet. The climb itself is straightforward and is perfect for mountaineer who aspire to take on an 8000+ meter peak. Also, it is a great peak to summit if you want some extra acclimatization effort before summiting Everest or one of the higher/more technical peaks in the Solukhumbu region. Mount Pumori was first summited in 1962 by a team of German, Swiss, and Nepali mountaineers.

Before reaching the summit, we guide you on an amazing adventure through the Everest region –the most distinctive mountain landscape in the world. Trek for days through Sagarmatha National Park (UNESCO World Heritage site) enjoying the presence of the world’s highest mountains. Look up at the snow-clad peaks and become inspired. Throughout the expedition, spend time with the local Sherpa people, who are known not only for their mountaineering feats, but also for their generous hospitality.

After ascending most of the trail, we arrive in Gorakshep, from where we can make an acclimatization (and of course exploration) trip to Everest Base Camp (5364m) or Kala Patthar (5545m) to get some breathtaking views. After Gorakshep, we set up our base camp at 5,200 meters / 17,060 feet. From Base Camp, we make several more ascents to acclimatize before the final push to the summit. Camp I is around 5,650 meters/18,536 feet. Camp II is around 6,000 meters/19,685 feet. Camp III is about 6,480 meters/21,260 feet.

From the summit, feel a true natural high. A smile from ear to ear comes across your face as you look out at some of the world’s highest peaks, including Mount Everest (8848 meters) and Lhotse (8516 meters). Take a deep breath and feel the powerful energy from the mountains. Nothing compares to the feeling of summiting a Himalayan peak. Snap some photos after enjoying the blissful moments of just admiring the view.

From the summit, we head back down to Lukla, soaking in every precious moment in this magnificent place.  Roar Himalaya Adventure provides top quality services regarding comfort, efficiency, safety, and success.
